On a hot summer’s evening in June, Moray Business Women celebrated 10 years with the launch of our very first conference.
Breakthrough to Excellence
The evening began with the UK’s No1 Breakthrough motivational speaker Taz Thornton. Inspirational speaker, motivator, author and extreme empowerment specialist she captured an audience of over 50 women with bundles of energy and a very powerful and personal story told with passion and humour. We feel sure we will hear a lot more from Taz.
After a light “brown bag” style supper catered by The Byre in Aberlour the evening was split into four sessions.
Award winning members Carole Small of CS/CAG Architects and Margaret Reynolds of Dogrobes coached a number of women in the art and benefits of taking the leap into applying for awards. All types of Business Awards. With the Association of Scottish Business Women Awards already open, the Moray Chamber of Commerce Awards around the corner and our own due to launch in August it’s all to play for.
Meanwhile Lindsay Robertson (Lindsay Robertson Photography) helped us to get a whole lot more out of social media through the clever use of images. Lindsay has built her own photography business and is always seeking another angle. She introduced us to applications which help capture great photos as well as a few “I never knew that” tips and tricks.
Susan Pettit (Client Central) is passionate about the “Client Journey”. Ensuring effective client conversations can be key to clinching that deal and knowing how to phrase or position your questions to best effect is a simple but effective tool. An interactive session sent us away with a few more effective tools we could use in many situations.
And finally we returned to the theatre to learn more about about gender intelligence from Jo Adams and Sheila Campbell-Lloyd. Understanding the difference between male and female leadership traits, recognising our own, and then deploying them in any given situation. An insightful session leaving us wanting more!
We owe a massive thank you to the following for donating business prizes to the raffle which raised over £200 for our charity Moray Women’s Aid.
Our first conference was packed to the rafters with interest (and laughter) and moved at pace. Thanks to Horizon Scotland for their excellent facilities.
