Opportunity for businesses and young people

BUSINESSES with job opportunities and young people looking for work are being encouraged to come together at an event aimed at pairing them up.

Retain in Moray, will showcase the variety of opportunities that are available across a range of sectors within the region.

Run by Developing the Young Workforce Moray, members of Moray Business Women’s Club, the event was such a success in its debut year in 2018, the organisation has decided to run it again.

The event will take place at Moray College UHI in Elgin and businesses wanting to get involved are being encouraged to get in touch with DYW Moray.

Sarah Baxter, the manager of the government funded organisation said it is a great platform to recruit and an opportunity for young people and their parents to see what’s on offer.

“We are delighted to be bringing back Retain in Moray for a second year. It is essentially run a bit like a Meet the Buyer event, except we are inviting young people to attend where they could potentially be meeting their future employer. The employers will have stands that will showcase their business and the opportunities and young people should come armed with their CVs, an open mind and a positive attitude.

“The idea is to showcase what a wealth of employment and training opportunities there are available throughout the region. Retain in Moray is aimed at entry level students and will showcase employment, apprenticeship and trainee opportunities available.”

Sarah added: “We already have a variety of businesses on board including Scotia Homes, Quarriers Carer Support Service, LH Stainless Ltd, The Army and Johnston Carmichael Accountants. However, we would welcome input and support from other businesses who over the next eight months will have opportunities available for young people. It doesn’t cost anything to get involved and who knows, you may just meet that next star employee.”

The event will take place on April 16 from 4pm – 7pm at the Moray College UHI. It is open to the general public, however we would encourage you to register for this event by sending an email to Sarah Baxter, DYW Moray Manager at sbaxter@dywmoray.co.uk.

Businesses interested in taking part should also contact Sarah.
