I established Sylvan Designs in late 2017 after a lifetime of making soft furnishings for the many houses I have lived in over the years, and then finally taking the step to formalise and build my knowledge by completing a Diploma in Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings with the National Design Academy in 2016.
My work is produced with care and creativity, with my window furnishings being made using traditional craft techniques to provide curtains and blinds that will last for many, many years.
Although home-based, I do have a network of trade suppliers and am able to offer a wide range of fabric choices at competitive prices. I work closely with my clients and visit their home/premises free of charge in order to gain a feel for the room the curtains or blinds will sit in, and to offer design advice based on that visit.
I love what I do: from researching fabrics and ideas, to meeting clients, right through to the long hours of sewing, and I hope that this is demonstrated in the quality of the finished product.

Outside of work, I am on the Board of Directors for Findhorn Bay Arts (findhornbayarts.com), I volunteer for Moray Womens’ Aid (mwaelgin.co.uk), and assist my partner with his mobile bike repair business (bikespokes.co.uk).
Free time is spent doing anything that allows me to be outdoors.
