Charity of the Year

About our Charities

Moray Business Women actively supports and raises funds for a chosen charity each year.  Our aim is to work closely with the group and further promote and raise the awareness of its worthwhile causes. Each year we raise funds for our charity through a raffle at our monthly events.  Our annual Awards Ball raises a significant donation too through a live auction and raffle.

In 2017, through our events and charity ball, we supported and raised £6,500 for Moray Foodbank who provide crises food provision across the region.

Defibs for Moray’s aim is to raise funds for the purchase, installation and maintenance of defibrillators within the Moray region.  The charity was set up through the personal and life changing experience of Forres father and dentist, Ken Glass, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in February 2017.  With this, it has been recognised that with having public access to a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival and subsequent recovery.

As well as raising necessary funds for the units, the small team also aim to increase awareness around the simplicity of how the unit operates and the life saving effect of having them easily accessible to the public it will have.  They also offer training in CPR and AED use.

You can read further about their cause and make a donation through their website

Applying for our Chosen Charity

The application process for our 2019 charity search will commence later in 2018 with the chosen charities being invited to pitch for their cause at our AGM in December 2018 and we wrap up the evening with a Members’ vote to announce the chosen charity.  If you are a local charity or cause looking for our support next year, keep a look out for our downloadable application form which will be available in due course.  Remember if your charity was shortlisted previously and was unsuccessful in being chosen, try again… it may well be worth it!

If you have any questions about being one of our future chosen charities, please contact our Charity Champion, Kirsty Watson, at
