Moray Business Women actively supports and raises funds for a chosen charity each year. Our aim is to work closely with the group and further promote and raise the awareness of its worthwhile causes. Each year we raise funds for our charity through a raffle at our monthly events. Our annual Awards Ball raises a significant donation too through a live auction and raffle.
Last year we raised £7000 for Moray Women’s Aid, which provides the largest provider of support services to women and children experiencing domestic abuse throughout the region. Services include provision of safe accommodation both at its base at Marleon House and within the community, community support, professional counselling and drop in centres. Previous years have seen a wide variety of deserving causes benefit from Moray Business Women fundraising.
This year our chosen charity is Moray Foodbank which provides crisis food provision across the region.
In 2015/16 financial year, Moray Foodbank handled over 1000 referrals and supported over 1800 people, 29% of which were children. Last year alone, the service received 1195 referrals supporting a total of 2210 people including 691 children.
We are well on the way to handing over another great sum to another deserving Moray charity having raised over £4000 at our Awards Ball and Charity evening on 18th November.
Each year we raise funds for our charity through a raffle at our monthly events. Our annual Awards Ball raises a significant donation too through a live auction and raffle.
