Moray Business Women actively supports and raises funds for a chosen charity each year. Our aim is to work closely with the group and further promote and raise the awareness of its worthwhile causes. Each year we raise funds for our charity through a raffle at our monthly events. Our annual Awards Ball raises a significant donation too through a live auction and raffle.
In 2018, through our events and charity ball, we supported and raised £2705.90 for Defibs for Moray who aim to raise funds for the purchase, installation and maintenance of defibrillators within the Moray region.

Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation is a Scottish Children’s Charity providing support for children with Cancer across the UK. While Abbie battled with her illness Abbie wanted to lead as normal a life as possible, receiving help from other children’s cancer charities, the family made many memories together and so on Abbie’s request to raise “money for Hospitals and Stuff” the foundation was set up to spread Abbie’s Sparkle to help brighten a child’s day.
In the words of Abbie’s family:
Abbie’s smile, sparkle and infectious enthusiasm lit up the room and that’s exactly how Abbie wants people to remember and celebrate her life. Abbie (15) passed away on Christmas Day, 2017, after living with Sarcoma a rare form of Cancer, for four years and four months. Christmas was Abbie’s favourite day, she loved it, we believe that Abbie held on and chose the sparkliest day of the year to go. It was the sense of humour and laugh-out-loud mentality, which set Abbie apart and meant she lived every moment to the full. Abbie was a vivacious and talented cheerleader who was hailed by medics as “incredible and a truly inspirational young women”. One of Abbie’s wishes is to raise money for “Hospitals and stuff” under the charity name Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation.

Thereafter, a voting process will take place and our shortlisted charities will be invited to pitch for their cause at our AGM on 4th December 2018 at Brodie Countryfare where we wrap up the evening with a Members’ vote to announce the chosen charity. Remember if your charity was shortlisted previously and was unsuccessful in being chosen, try again… it may well be worth it!
